Winger Jonny Hayes says Brendan Rodgers is one of the best managers in the world and believes the Celtic boss will be able to help him improve.

The well travelled 30-year-old was drafted in by Rodgers earlier this summer after impressing with Scottish rivals Aberdeen.

The winger joined The Dons in 2012 and enjoyed his best season with the club in 2016-17 as he provided 19 assists, more than anyone else in the Premiership, and added a further nine goals.

Hayes has already bagged his first goal for Celtic, who are priced at 1.08 to win the Scottish Premiership, as they blew away Shamrock Rovers 9-0 in a pre-season friendly and he is expected to fight for a starting spot at Celtic Park.

The Republic of Ireland international already has a strong reputation north of the border but he believes former Liverpool boss Rodgers can help him to improve further.

Hayes said: “He is one of the best managers in the world, I’m confident he can improve me.”

The Dublin-born winger is also hoping that his switch to the Scottish champions can boost his chances of winning more international caps.

He added: “There are players in the Premier League who can play there [right wing] and they’re ahead of me in the pecking order.

It’s up to me to impress in training and do well for Celtic and see where that takes me.”
