New Celtic signing Scott Allan insists that he did not have to think twice about joining the Scottish champions.

The 23-year-old completed his switch to Parkhead from Hibernian on Friday and has signed a four-year deal with Ronny Deila’s side, despite interest from Glasgow rivals Rangers.

The former West Brom youngster’s proposed switch to Ibrox was blocked by Hibs, who did not want him to join a fellow Championship rival, and he has now made the step-up to the Scottish Premiership instead.

The midfielder admitted that it was an easy decision to join the Bhoys and he is now looking forward to testing himself both domestically and in European competition.

He said: “In football terms for me, coming here was a no-brainer. I can’t wait to get started. It is unbelievable. It is a great opportunity for me. It is a massive club and I will try my hardest to be a great player here.”

The youngster is eligible to go straight into the squad for Wednesday night’s Champions League play-off first leg tie with Malmo at Celtic Park, but his Norwegian boss is wary of throwing the new recruit straight into action against the Swedish champions.

He revealed: “Scott Allan isn’t going to come in here and be the king from the first minute. I don’t think he is going to go straight into the team, hardly anyone has done that.

“He has to first show in training and get into our environment. He is a young, talented player who needs to get used to what we do and our tempo.”

The Hoops are the 1.62 favourites to earn a first leg advantage whilst the Swedes are available at 5.25 and the draw is on offer at 3.75.
