Burnley frontman Sam Vokes has urged the Clarets to make Turf Moor a fortress this season as they bid to stay in the Premier League.

Burnley have made a solid start to life back in the top flight, claiming three points from their first three games following a surprise victory over Liverpool on home soil.

Sean Dyche’s side, who are priced at 1.80 to be relegated, were beaten at Turf Moor on the opening day by Swansea, while their only clash on the road saw them fall to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea last time out.

The Clarets won just four times at home during their last Premier League campaign and Vokes has stressed the importance of improving that record if they are to avoid suffering relegation as they did in 2014-15.

The Lancashire club will welcome Hull and Watford to their patch this month, either side of travelling to Premier League champions Leicester, as they look to register some more points.

The striker believes that home form could be key to staying out of the bottom three and feels it is a bonus to have already taste victory in front of their own fans.

Vokes said: “They are massive games for us. The other week against Liverpool showed we need to make Turf Moor a bit of a fortress for ourselves, because away from home in this league it’s always going to be tough.

“But when we get teams back to Turf Moor, it’s important that we show what we’re about and look to pick up points. The win against Liverpool was massive for us, obviously, to get off to a massive start.

“Last time we were up it took us a while to get that first win, so to get that ticked off was important. Now we’ve got some important games when we come back.”
