Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is delighted with his team’s 4-0 pounding of Barcelona.

In fact, he labelled it a “dream’’ to pull off such a demolition of the powerhouse Catalan side.

The German football legend said he was contented seeing his squad displaying a high standard of play, telling Sky Deutschland: “We won 4-0 against the best team in the world. That is like a dream here tonight.’’

He added: “We played beautifully. We did not give our opponents any chances. I do not think Barca ever had a game where they had so few chances.“

Strutting to the Allianz Arena as slight favourites, the Bavarians proved too much for Barca, with a Thomas Muller double and a goal apiece from Mario Gomez and Arjen Robben powering them to the win.

Rummenigge lavished praises on Muller, but he was keen to acknowledge that Blaugrana star Lionel Messi had clearly not recovered from his recent hamstring trouble.

“Thomas Muller had a fantastic match,” Rummenigge said. “But I still think Messi is the No. 1. I don’t think he was completely fit.”
