Celtic boss Ronny Deila was quick to criticise his side’s defending following their 2-2 draw with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday night.
The Hoops opened the scoring when Leigh Griffiths netted inside three minutes, but Kilmarnock responded on the stroke of half-time.
Josh Magennis scored in the 44th minute before Nir Bitton scored a long-range effort with more than 30 minutes left to go.
Deila’s side looked like they were cruising to victory but then Kallum Higginbotham slotted past Craig Gordon from the penalty spot with two minutes to go.
While Kilmarnock picked up their first point of the season, Celtic slipped to second in the table after Hearts beat Motherwell 2-0 at Tynecastle.
Celtic must now turn their fortunes around ahead of games against Inverness and Malmo and Deila admitted his side need to respond after some disappointing defending.
He said: “I am disappointed of course. We should have scored more goals but I am very disappointed that we were sloppy in defence.
“It was like that against Partick Thistle in the second half and we continued that and we got punished. They got four or five chances and that is more than the other teams have had in 10 games.
“So we deserved to get punished when we don’t score goals and are so sloppy.
“Everything starts with good defence, that is why we have had so many good results – and we have to be back on track on Saturday.”
