Everton boss Roberto Martinez believes he has two of the best young defenders in England in John Stones and Brendan Galloway.
Stones has been a consistent performer for the Toffees since arriving at Goodison Park from Barnsley and is currently in the Czech Republic with the England Under-21 squad taking part in the European Championship.
Teenager Galloway made his Everton debut last month at West Ham United and impressed as he did in his second appearance against Tottenham.
“They are different players,” Martinez said. “But the similarities are that they are both good defenders with a lot of athleticism and you need that in the modern game.
“They are very good in the air as well as in duels on the ground. On top of that they are players who can start the play, who are very comfortable on the ball.”
Meanwhile, reports suggest Luke Garbutt is set to sign a new long-term contract with the club.
It had been feared that the 22-year-old left-back was considering moving elsewhere this summer but he is now set to put pen to paper on a new five-year deal when he returns from the European Under-21 Championship.
The defender, who joined the club’s academy in 2009, is expected to spend the 2015-16 campaign on loan at Bournemouth.
Everton are available at 1.73 to win their first Premier League game of the season on August 8 against newly-promoted Watford at Goodison Park and are 17.00 to win the FA Cup.
