Roberto Mancini has been sacked as Inter Milan manager with the Italian tactician set to be replaced by former Ajax boss Frank de Boer in the next 24 hours.

Mancini took charge of the Serie A outfit back in 2014 and led the team to an eighth place finish in the league, narrowly missing out on European football.

The 51-year-old then made a great start to the previous campaign and the club were top of the standings early on after racking up five consecutive victories.

However, the Nerazzurri couldn’t keep the good form going and they ended up fourth in the table, a massive 13 points off the final Champions League position that was taken by Roma.

The former Manchester City boss, who won the Premier League title in his stint at the Etihad Stadium, had been busy in the summer window, having brought in Ever Banega, Antonio Candreva and Caner Erkin.

But, there were reportedly disagreements over the transfer policy and this is said to have been a big reason in why Mancini was sacked by the club.

Also, the poor form in pre-season didn’t help the Italians cause and the recent 6-1 thumping at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur proved something wasn’t right.

Mancini has now gone and it is understood De Boer is set to take charge after verbally agreeing to sign a three-year contract at the San Siro.

Inter, who are 13.00 to win the title, open their season away at Chievo on August 21 and the visitors are 2.00 favourites to pick up the win, a draw is priced at 3.25 while the hosts are the 3.80 outsiders.
