Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo won “Best Player in Europe” Award

It was no surprise Portugal won the recent Euro 2016 against France. After the month long actions, time has come again for UEFA to name the best player in Europe and it’s none other than Real Madrid’s superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Freshly came from the victory last July, Ronaldo 31 also scored the winning penalty in the Champions League against Atletico.

The superstar and the team captain crowned as the best player in Europe via landslide vote 40 out of 55 while his teammates Gareth Bale received 7 votes and Antoine Greizmann received 8 votes.

The votes came from Journalists from Each of UEFA’s 55 member associations. Ten players with at least 10 votes will advance to the second round until the final 3 is determined.

The as the poll starts, the journalists are again asked to cast their votes via electronic system. Basing from history of Best Players, it was recorded that Ronaldo received the same award back in 2014 along with Messi who also received the award twice.

Upon receiving the Best Player award, Ronaldo was interviewed and was glad to give his statement. “Of course I feel happy because it was an unbelievable season.

But if wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t mention these two amazing players (Greizmann and Bale)”. Ronaldo said. Greizmann played for France who lost to Portugal during the final and Ronaldo felt it was a made or break match.

“Griezmann, I am sorry for your loss to Portugal in the final, but you are an amazing player. I was an unbelievable season” he added.

On the other hand, Lyon and the striker from Norway Ada Hegerberg won the women’s award. They’ve beat Amandine Henry for France and Dzsenifer Marozsan of Germany in the Champions League and after winning twice in the French League.
