Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of La Liga to four points on Sunday, but boss Carlo Ancelotti expects the race for the crown to go all the way down to the final game of the season.

Barcelona were beaten 1-0 by Malaga at the Nou Camp on Saturday and Los Blancos made sure they took advantage of that slip-up to extend their cushion at the top.

Real, who can be backed at 3.70 to retain their Champions League title, hit 60 points for the campaign as they sealed a 2-0 win over struggling Elche with 14 league games left to play.

The Catalan outfit sit second with 56 points, while defending champions Atletico are three points further back in third after their victory over Almeria.

Karim Benzema and La Liga top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo were on the scoresheet for the Santiago Benabeu club as Real made it three games without conceding in all competitions.

Despite sitting in a commanding position at the top of the table, Ancelotti knows his side still have to travel to the Nou Camp and is refusing to get complacent.

Ancelotti said: “This means the team is defending well and neither today nor on Wednesday did we allow the opponent many chances.

“It was a key game because of what happened (on Saturday) and so we could put some distance between ourselves and Barca.

“With this attitude we will win a lot of games. We have an advantage but this league will be decided on the final day.”
