Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale has praised the calming influence of coach Zinedine Zidane.

Zidane took over the reigns at the Bernabeu in January 2016, his first top-flight managerial appointment, and he has enjoyed sustained success in the role, guiding Los Blancos to Champions League glory last season.

Real also made an impressive start to the current campaign although they have stumbled in La Liga over recent weeks, drawing with Las Palmas and losing to Valencia.

Wales international Bale insists the mood within the camp is still high and has praised the positive influence of his manager.

“Zidane is very calm,” Bale told The Sun. “He just knows the psychology of football. He was the world’s best player for years.

Whereas other managers get angry and upset and make the team a bit scared, if we lose he will say: ‘Keep calm, keep working hard’.”

Real are next in action when they travel to the Stadio San Paolo to take on Napoli in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Tuesday night.

Los Blancos hold a 3-1 advantage from the first leg and are 1.10 to book their place in the quarter-finals while Napoli are available at 6.00 to progress.
