Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has urged his side to silence Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when the two teams meet on Sunday.
The Saints will welcome Arsenal to St Mary’s this weekend and a win could take them out of the bottom three.
Southampton currently sit 19th after just one win all season and Hasenhuttl has his work cut out if he is to help his team avoid the drop.
He is no stranger to facing Aubameyang due to previous spells as manager of Ingolstadt and RB Leipzig during his time in Germany. Hasenhuttl admits his team need to stop the supply to the Gabon international and he believes they have a great chance of winning if they do.
He told Sky Sports: “He has a lot of qualities and therefore we have to work as a team. It will depend how much pressure [we put] on guys that want to pass to him.
“Maybe don’t give too much time to these guys to put the perfect pass then it’s easier to defend his qualities – his speed, his heading in the box. “That is our goal to defend him and the rest of the team.
But he doesn’t need a lot of chances to score, as everyone knows.” Arsenal travel to the south coast 22 games unbeaten in all competitions and they are available at odds of 1.80 to grab all three points. The Saints are 4.20 to pull off a shock win, while the draw is 4.00 with Dafabet.
