Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp believes Leicester can be caught and insists his Hoops side are not just fighting for the second automatic promotion place in the Championship this season.
The Foxes had to rely on a stoppage-time equaliser to earn a point in a 2-2 draw against Watford at the weekend but they still hold an 11-point advantage over QPR.
Redknapp’s men slipped to third as Burnley jumped into second place with a victory at the weekend but they can go back above the Clarets with three points at Derby tonight.
That would cut the gap to eight points and QPR would also have a game in hand on Nigel Pearson’s side, meaning Redknapp has not given up hope of top spot.
“It’s not just a race for second place. I’m sure their boss Nigel Pearson will be thinking they’ve got a great advantage and you’d love to be in their position but it can change so quickly,” he said.
“Three or four games without winning and it changes.
“We were sitting above them but had an horrendous run and suddenly they went on a great run of win, win, win.
“I don’t think about the play-offs. I just think about getting up automatically, that’s what we want to do.”
Tonight’s game will be far from easy, though, as Derby are just four points further behind and also harbour hopes of going up automatically.
