Ben Davies and Harry Winks have both expressed their delight having signed new five-year contracts with Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
The pair are the latest members of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad to be tied down on long-term deals, joining the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier in committing to the beaten Champions League finalists.
Pochettino has only added France midfielder Tanguy Ndombele to his squad since losing last month’s Champions League decider to Liverpool in Madrid – having failed to sign anyone last summer.
Crucially for Spurs, there have not been any exits so far, with playmaker Christian Eriksen having been heavily touted for a move away from the north London club. Wales defender Davies, 26, joined Tottenham from Swansea in July 2014 and has made 168 appearances to date.
Winks, 23, has played 104 times for Spurs having made his first-team debut in November 2014 after coming up through the club’s academy. He made 41 appearances in all competitions in 2018-19 and says there was never any doubt about signing a new contract.
“I have been at the club since I was five so when I got the opportunity to sign a new contract it was a no-brainer,” said the England midfielder. Davies meanwhile featured 40 times in the first team last season and feels he has justified his new contract.
“I have worked really hard to put myself in the position to stay at this club for the next few years and I am delighted to be here,” he said.
Tottenham are 1.62 to finish in the top four next season and 15.00 to win the Premier League title.
