Tottenham striker Harry Kane has admitted that his side must win a trophy this season if they are to continue their upward curve under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The north London outfit have failed to win any silverware under the former Southampton boss but they have continued to improve.

They pushed Leicester for the title two years ago before falling away and they then secured second-placed behind Chelsea last season.

Their performances and results in Europe have been disappointing and they will look improve them while playing at Wembley once again this season.

Poor displays in the League Cup and FA Cup have disgruntled some fans and Kane admits at least one trophy win will show his side are continuing to progress.

When asked if they need to win a trophy, Kane told reporters: “Yes, that is what we have to do.

“Third, second. The only way we can improve is to win something or win the league.

That is our aim. That is always our aim. We have to keep doing what we are doing and hopefully it will happen.

“It is another year that we have been playing with each other. Another year of getting used to the way that we play with the manager.”

After Sunday’s defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League, Spurs are now 11.00 to win the title under Pochettino this season.

They are also priced at 10.00 to win the FA Cup and 11.00 to win the Carabao Cup.
