Jurgen Klopp believes Liverpool deserved their 2-0 victory over Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday but he knows they still have work to do during next week’s second leg.

The Reds dominated the majority of the first leg of the quarter-final tie at Anfield and first-half goals from Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino have seemingly put them in control of the contest.

Klopp certainly felt his side were full value for the win, although he knows they will be in for a tough night in the return match at the Estadio do Dragao next Wednesday.

“We deserved the win 100 per cent and we scored two wonderful goals,” said Klopp. “Overall it was a really good performance.

“There is still a lot to do and we know that. The atmosphere in Porto will be really tough for us but this is a result we wanted before the game, now we have it and we have to work with it.”

Liverpool will draw confidence from the 5-0 victory they claimed on their last visit to Porto in 2018, while they have also now extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to 15 matches.

Before they can turn their attention to next week’s second leg, the Reds must first shift their focus back to the Premier League title race, as they face a potentially pivotal home clash with Chelsea on Sunday.

Klopp’s side will head into the weekend sitting two points clear of nearest rivals Manchester City at the top of the standings and they are priced at 1.62 to at least maintain that position by beating Chelsea, who are available at 5.25, while the draw is on offer at 4.20.
