Leicester City winger Marc Albrighton insists he is mentally and physically ready for a tough pre-season campaign.

The former Aston Villa man was one of the returning contingent at the club’s training ground on Monday, while the likes of Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire continue to feature at the World Cup in Russia.

While Riyad Mahrez looks set for a move to Manchester City, Albrighton is determined to kick on and impress under Claude Puel.

The Frenchman has already changed his backroom staff ahead of the new campaign as Leicester prepare for their fifth straight campaign in the Premier League.

The Foxes are back in training for the next few weeks and Albrighton insists he is ready for whatever the club’s staff throw at him.

He told LCFC TV: “It was a nice break to get away with the family and get mentally ready for the new season and also keep yourself in shape ready for this pre-season.

“I think nowadays, you’re obviously expected to come back at a certain level anyway and then obviously pre-season is to build on that and get ready for the season.

It doesn’t get any easier! “I’m not going to say it’s (seeing his team-mates) hard to come back to. It’s what we love doing, we love playing football and you do miss the banter when you’re away.

“You go away and you get yourself mentally prepared. You take a break mentally from football but you are ready to get back into it at some point.”

Leicester start the season with a trip to Old Trafford and Manchester United are the 1.36 favourites to win the game. The draw is priced at 4.75, while Puel’s troops are 9.00 to win.
