Leicester City have launched a bid for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro as they look to bolster their squad.

The Foxes have been active early on in the transfer window and will hope to make the 25-year-old part of their squad for next season.

The bid is thought to be around the £11.5million mark for the 25-year-old, who has fallen out of favour in Turin recently.

He made only 12 appearances in Serie A for the champions last season as he was unable to force his way into the side ahead of the likes of Sami Khedira, Blaise Matuidi and Miralem Pjanic.

However, Leicester may have to put in a more tempting offer as Massimiliano Allegri’s outfit apparently want £17.5million in order to coax him away from the Allianz Stadium.

Leicester will be looking to improve on their ninth-place finish in the Premier League last season, with the midfielder high on their shopping list.

Sturaro’s potential arrival would see fierce competition for places between himself, Wilfried Ndidi, Adrien Silva and Vicente Iborra.

He would be their third signing of the summer should the deal go through after the arrivals of full-back Ricardo Pereira from Porto and defender Jonny Evans from West Brom in a £3.5million deal.

The Foxes have been handed a tough start to the 2018-19 Premier League season as they face Manchester United at Old Trafford.

They are seen as the underdogs for the game against Jose Mourinho’s men and can be backed at 8.50, with the home side at 1.40 while the draw is 4.33.
