Everton could dip back into the transfer market to bring in additional attacking options before the deadline on August 8, according to Marco Silva.

The Toffees have endured a mixed pre-season and Silva is considering bringing in new recruits to ensure that form doesn’t continue into the regular season. They have been solid defensively and conceded their first goal in more than six hours as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Sevilla on Saturday.

In attack, they have misfired, scoring just three times in five games and fans will be concerned about a lack of firepower. Everton have lacked bite in the final third since Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Manchester United in the summer of 2017 and Silva has some big decisions to make.

They have been linked with Juventus striker Moise Kean and Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha but Silva wants to give Dominic Calvert-Lewin the chance to step up.

Siva told evertontv: “We have scored three goals in five games – one direct free-kick, one from the right-back and one from our centre-back after a corner.

“But there is time left in the market, even if it goes to the last week – which can happen. “We are talking about Dominic’s first week in pre-season and he is working very hard.

“We have to do different things in our offensive organisation – in order to create more chances and score more goals.” The Merseyside outfit wrap up their pre-season commitments with a trip to German side Werder Bremen on Saturday, before kicking off their Premier League campaign on August 10.

Everton can be backed at 2.60 to make a winning start to 2019-20 when they head to Crystal Palace, who are priced at 2.88 to pick up all three points, while the draw is available at 3.30.
