Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has told his team-mates to focus on the game and not the table ahead of Manchester City’s visit on Saturday.

Chelsea are 3.75 to win the match, City can be backed at 2.00 and a draw is 3.60.

The Stamford Bridge outfit went down 2-1 at Wolves in midweek and now trail pacesetters City by 10 points.

If the league-leaders win in London on Saturday, Chelsea’s title hopes will have been all but extinguished barring a dramatic drop in form for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Alonso says the Blues must ensure their full concentration is on the game itself and not the impact it could have on their bid for Premier League glory. “It’s too early to talk about it, obviously,” he told reporters.

“If we lose we are going to be 13 points from the top and that’s a lot of points but we have to think, prepare for the game well and not pay attention to the table at the moment.

“It’s the perfect opportunity to come back. It will be a great game for sure, everyone will be very motivated to play.

“We are very disappointed after the defeat but it’s back to work and we will work harder and start playing better as a team.”

Chelsea are 67.00 to win the Premier League outright, City are the 1.20 favourites and Liverpool are available at 5.00.
