Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is convinced Alexis Sanchez will give his all for the club during his remaining time in north London.

Sanchez has entered the final year of his deal and seems set to depart when his contract expires next summer, if not in January amid reports Manchester City could make a winter move.

The forward featured for the first time of the season in the 4-0 loss to Liverpool prior to the international break and is likely to be involved when the Gunners host Bournemouth on Saturday.

Wenger is resigned to losing Sanchez in the near future but he is convinced the Chilean will continue to work for the team for as long as he is an Arsenal player.

“I have no doubt about Alexis’ mentality,” Wenger told a media conference.

“People question it, he needs to come back to full fitness – he wasn’t [fit] at Liverpool, it was his first game. “He’s strong mentally and hopefully he’ll be back very quickly to his best.”

Wenger also reiterated his belief the transfer window should close before the season starts as it distracts players who are subject to rumours – such as Sanchez.

He added: “In the players’ minds they have no clarity, it’s not a way to work.

“It’s uncomfortable and every single manager in the league will say it’s time to kick that out before the season starts.”

Arsenal are 13.00 to beat Bournemouth 4-0 and Sanchez is 3.80 to score first.
