Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has called for more support from the Chelsea fans in a period where the Blues have been inconsistent and have dropped to 11th position on the Premier League table.
The Chelsea boss mentioned this in a pre-match conference on Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s FA Cup fourth-round replay against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are winless in their last three matches, including a goalless draw against Aston Villa in the first leg of this FA Cup fixture, a 4-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield, and a 4-2 loss to Wolves at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
The most recent results attracted boos from the Chelsea fans in the 4-2 at Stamford Bridge, and Pochettino has demanded better from the fans.
Recent results have indicated the possible sacking and replacement of the coach at the helms of affairs in London, but Pochettino has debunked those claims, stating that he has the backing of Todd Boehly.
“I think we are all together in this, and that’s important. I received a very good text from [the owners]. Of course, I am in contact with them and the sporting director every day. The fans need to trust in us. We need to provide the calm for the players to feel free to play. We need to create a good connection with the fans. The fans need to understand when they go to Stamford Bridge, it’s a different Chelsea, a different project, a different everything. It’s the responsibility of the players and the staff to create a connection, something in between they appreciate.” Pochettino said.
Chelsea travel to Aston Villa on Wednesday for an FA Cup fourth-round replay at Villa Park, but later this month, they face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
They will also continue their Premier League campaign at the weekend against Crystal Palace and away at Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City.
