Corinthians midfielder Paulinho revealed Tottenham made a bid to try and sign him ahead of new season but he will not rush into making a final decision.

Paulinho is currently in his homeland representing Brazil as they bid to try win the Confederations Cup, he insists that he will be drawn on a decision until the competition is over.

The Brazilian has been a key part of Felipe Scolari’s set-up as the former Chelsea manager looks to try and build a formidable side that can challenge for both the Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup also in Brazil.

The 24-year-old was forced to sit out of the final group game against Italy due to an ankle injury but reports from the medical staff would suggest it is not a serious knock.

Andre Villas-Boas has been looking to try and add some more midfield power to the White Hart Lane club after they narrowly missed out on Champions League football to Arsenal on the final day of the season.

Spurs are understood to have made a bid in the region of £17million for the midfielder but will have to wait for a reply as he takes some time to mull over the move with his family.

Paulinho said: “There is an official offer from Tottenham to Corinthians.

“But, as I did when there was an Inter Milan offer, I’ll sit and decide with my family before I make any decision.

“I will only do it after the Confederations Cup because it’s hard to deal with all these things.”
