Blackburn boss Owen Coyle wants to see a reaction from his side when they take on Cardiff in the Welsh capital on Wednesday.

Rovers are currently bottom of the Championship standings following heavy defeats in their opening two league matches of the season against Norwich and Wigan.

The Blue and Whites will be looking to get their season up and running at the Cardiff City Stadium and Coyle wants to see an improved performance from his side during the match.

He said: “What has happened has not been nice, losing those two games, but you’ve got an opportunity every game in football to get up and running.

That’s now our aim going into Wednesday.” Following the clash with the Bluebirds, Blackburn will face a run of home matches, against Burton Albion and Fulham in the league and Crewe Alexandra in the EFL Cup, and Coyle believes his side can get their season up and running over the next couple of weeks.

He added: “We want to get a positive result at Cardiff and then set ourselves up for those home games.”

The 50-year-old admits his side have been stunned by their slow start to the campaign, but he has complete faith in the quality of his squad.

He revealed: “When you lose games you can be stunned by it. But you’ve got to pick yourself up.

They know they are good players but we’ve got to give ourselves a platform to be in a game and to win games. If we do that, everything comes.”

The Lancashire club are available at 4.00 to secure their first three points of the campaign on Wednesday, while Cardiff are on offer at 1.91 and the draw is priced at 3.30.
