Chelsea have rewarded Brazilian playmaker Oscar with a new five-year deal at Stamford Bridge following a strong start to the season for the midfielder.

With four goals in 15 appearances in all competitions this season for the South American, Oscar continues to be an important element in manager Jose Mourinho’s team who are sitting four points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

In a midfield that also consists of the likes of Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas, Oscar has flourished this term with some impressive individual performances both domestically and in the Champions League, in which Chelsea also sit top of their group.

With stars at Stamford Bridge often linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, the Blues have decided to get a deal over the line to secure Oscar’s long-term future at the west London outfit.

The 23-year-old is now looking forward to continuing his development under Mourinho at Chelsea.

He told the club’s website: “I am so happy because I love playing for Chelsea and living in England. I have enjoyed playing here for two years, and now I have five more, so I am very happy.”

Oscar and Chelsea are back in Premier League action on November 22 when they host West Brom.

The Blues are 1.23 to take all three points and 8.71 to lose their unbeaten record in the league this season against the Baggies.
