Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini could be heading for the exit door after Italian outfit Napoli confirmed their interest.

The Belgium international has only been at Old Trafford for 12 months after former Red Devils boss David Moyes splashed out £27.5million to sign him from Everton.

However, he struggled to impress during what was a horror season for United and new boss Louis van Gaal will cash in if Napoli are willing to meet his valuation.

United have already snapped up Ander Herrera this summer and they are also pursuing a deal for Dutch midfield ace Kevin Strootman, and the money raised from the sale of Fellaini will fund a deal.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis says he is ready to offer the midfielder a way out, but he is not the only player they are looking at this summer.

“Fellaini is one of the names on the table, but not the only one,” he said.

Napoli finished third in Serie A last season and boss Rafael Benitez is trying to build a side that can go all the way and win the Italian title.

Napoli are 6.50 to win Serie A, with Juventus 1.80 to retain the title, while AS Roma are 3.30 second favourites.

Fellaini failed to score in 21 appearances for United last season but that has not put off Napoli, who are keen to link him up with Gokhan Inler in the heart of their midfield.
