New Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri believes he can get even more out of striker Gonzalo Higuain this season.

The Argentine has again been linked with a move away from the San Paolo this summer but it appears the Partenopei have no intention of selling their most potent attacking weapon.

Higuain arrived in Naples in 2013 following the appointment of Rafa Benitez and currently holds an impressive record of 35 goals in 69 Serie A appearances.

After Benitez’s recent departure to the striker’s former club Real Madrid, Sarri has been brought in with the task of taking the team to the next level following a strong spell at Empoli.

Although the 56-year-old has only briefly managed in the top flight, he was born in Naples and knows exactly what the side means to the city.

Sarri admits he is excited about working with the “world class” Higuain and has backed the 27-year-old to have another big season for the Partenopei.

“He’s a humble guy, and the relationship is normal,” the boss told reporters. “He’s a smart lad, I was surprised by some of his reflections. He can give us what a world class player does.

“He can make us win a lot at a high level. He’s a resource for us. I look at the player and all I see is an asset for us, I still feel he has a lot he can do, and he can definitely explode.”

Napoli are currently 9.00 to win Serie A this season, with defending champions Juventus the 1.53 favourites and Roma also in the running at 7.50.
