Turkish giants Fenerbahce have completed the signing of Portugal international Nani on a long-term deal after the winger completed a medical on Sunday.

The 28-year-old joined Manchester United in 2007 and became a regular fixture in the first team, making 26 Premier League appearances in his debut season.

The winger continued to impress in the years to come and was, at times, compared to fellow compatriot and current Fifa Ballon d’Or holder Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, the former Sporting star fell down the pecking order at the start of the 2012/13 campaign and was restricted to just 11 outings in the English top-flight.

The Portuguese made the same number of appearances the next season and this was the final straw for Nani, who joined Sporting on loan for a year for the previous term.

The winger will now be plying his trade over in Turkey and the former Red Devils is delighted to have signed for a club, insisting huge success can be achieved.

“I’m very happy for being here,” Nani told Fenerbahce’s official website upon arrival. “I think that there is a big chance to prove myself again. I’ll try to do my best to make Fenerbahce fans happy. I hope everything goes well.

“I know Fenerbahce very well. The club’s aims have always been high and playing with [Raul] Meireles and Bruno Alves will be exciting. With their help, I’ll feel like I’m with my family. I want to be successful with my new team-mates.”

Nani’s former club Manchester United are themselves hoping to pick up some silverware this season and Louis van Gaal’s men are priced at 6.00 to win the Premier League while they are a 2.50 shot to be the top North-West club.
