Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho admitted he would love to see former Blues striker Didier Drogba back if Londoners are drawn against Galatasaray in last 16 of Champions League.

The Portuguese tactician saw his secure top spot in their group with a 1-0 victory over Steaua Bucharest on Wednesday night and now the ‘Special One’ is eagerly awaiting the draw on Monday.

Having returned to Chelsea over the summer, Mourinho has admitted that his first game in charge of the club back in the Premier League against Hull City was a special occasion.

The Blues boss now wants Drogba, who scored the winning penalty to win the Champions League trophy for Chelsea in 2012, to get the same reception from the fans at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho said: “He deserves a reception here, even better, he deserves it even more than me.

“He deserves to get what I got against Hull City. He deserves double to three times that. I know what I felt and I think he deserves that.

“So, yes, Galatasaray is difficult, very difficult, but I would like Didier to be back here and to feel what I felt.”

Before Monday’s draw Mourinho and his squad will be focused on their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Blues currently sit in third place in the Premier League table and will be hoping to close the five-point gap on frontrunners Arsenal before the two teams meet on December 23.
