Mauricio Pochettino says he is delighted with the progress made by the young players in his squad as Tottenham continue their quest for the Premier League title.

Spurs are enjoying arguably their best season to date and Saturday’s 3-1 comeback victory at Crystal Palace has kept the club right in the hunt for silverware.

Defender Jan Vertonghen stuck into his own net to give the Eagles a
1-0 lead at Selhurst Park on Saturday and the setback really tested the grit and determination of the visitors.

However, they stood up to the challenge and England international Harry Kane got the equaliser just after the hour mark to set up an exciting finish.

The stand-out moment came from Dele Alli in the 84th minute as the midfielder flicked the ball over his head before finding the bottom corner with a superb volley from the edge of the box.

Nacer Chadli made sure of the points when scoring late on and the 3-1 victory for Spurs has left the club in fourth position, five points off the top and five clear of Manchester United in fifth.

The younger generation really put their hands up for Tottenham and Pochettino is delighted at how quickly they have matured this season.

Pochettino said: “We have the youngest squad in the Premier League, but the way the players showed their maturity it looked like the oldest.”

Spurs are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Colchester for an FA Cup fourth-round clash and the visitors are favourites at 1.33 to advance, with a draw priced at 5.00 while the hosts are a 9.00 shot to cause a huge upset.
