Mauricio Pochettino says Sunday’s victory over Everton was ‘more than three points’ for his Tottenham Hotspur side as they reclaimed their winning spirit.

Spurs had suffered back-to-back league home league defeats prior to the clash at White Hart Lane and fell behind to Kevin Mirallas’s opener after 15 minutes.

But the north London club fought back superbly as Christian Eriksen equalised shortly after before Roberto Soldado scored what proved to be the winner on the stroke of half time.

The victory means Spurs have won successive league games for the first time since August and moves them up to seventh in the Premier League table, level on points with neighbours Arsenal going into the midweek round of fixtures.

But Pochettino insists the win was more than just the three points due to the hunger and commitment displayed by his players.

“Our mentality and our spirit were fantastic,” Pochettino is quoted by the London Evening Standard.

“This is what we want. We need to keep this feeling. It is impossible always to win but with the spirit and mentality we showed, it will be easier to win games.”

He added: “Everton have a very good squad and for us it is not only three points, it is a little bit more than three points.
“It is important to grow and build on the victory.”

Spurs are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to unbeaten league leaders Chelsea.

They can be backed at 7.52 to inflict a first defeat upon Jose Mourinho’s side, while the Blues are 1.41 to win and a draw is 4.39.
