Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown believes the Gunners should attack from the off when they face Chelsea on Sunday.

Arsene Wenger’s men have been flying in recent months, winning their last 10 in all competitions to reach next month’s FA Cup final and surge up to second in the Premier League standings.

A win over the Blues on Sunday would see the Gunners close the gap between themselves and the leaders to seven points to add some belief to their increasingly faint hopes of catching Jose Mourinho’s men in the closing weeks of the campaign.

Over the years Arsenal have struggled against their main rivals, with Wenger’s desire to always dominate proceedings often seeing them overrun in the big games.

This has led to numerous calls that his stubbornness has often been the main reason for their lack of trophies, while his opposite number Mourinho has often been happy to sacrifice creativity for security.

However, Keown believes Sunday’s match presents the perfect opportunity for them to set out positively and believes their recent strong form means they should look to take the game to the Champions elect.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: “I think Arsenal will look to take the game to Chelsea and Chelsea will maybe use an extra midfield player in there.

“There is much more belief among Arsenal this season, there is an internal competition and I think the Arsenal players can’t wait to take on Chelsea.”

It is sure to be a huge game at the Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners currently shading the betting at 2.40, with the draw at 3.20 and the Blues available at 3.10.
