Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed youngster Marcus Rashford will start at Feyenoord on Thursday after impressing in the Manchester derby.
Rashford replaced Jesse Lingard at the break at Old Trafford on Saturday and managed to make an impact despite the fact United suffered a potentially damaging 2-1 defeat.
Mourinho has been criticised on occasions this season for not putting his faith in the forward, who missed out on a place in Sam Allardyce’s first England squad due to a lack of game time at club level.
However, the United boss has now confirmed Rashford has forced his way into the starting side, with Lingard or Henrikh Mkhitaryan likely to miss out as a result.
United are 1.85 to bounce back to winning ways against the Dutch outfit, while a win for Feyenoord is on offer at 4.00 and the draw is 3.60.
“The next big game is against Feyenoord and he is going to play,” said Mourinho. “I trust him completely.
I know his future will be absolutely brilliant. “He is mainly a No 9 and if you want to play him in different positions, we need to work him, we need to improve him, but his big personality is there.
“Normally, people look to the football talent but the personality at this level is very, very important and he was showing that last season, he was showing that immediately.
He gave us in the second half what we needed but didn’t get from Miki [Mkhitaryan] or Jesse in the first half.”
United are now 5.50 to claim the Premier League outright and 1.53 to win at Watford in their next league outing on Sunday.
