Marco Asensio’s agent, Horacio Gaggioli, says it is nice to hear about potential interest in his client although he revealed the attacking midfielder is not thinking about a move away from Real Madrid in January.
With Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo swapping the Santiago Bernabeu for Juventus in the summer, Asensio had the chance to stake his claim for a regular first-team spot in this campaign.
However, the Spain international has struggled to produce the goods on a consistent basis this season and there are suggestions Los Blancos, who are fourth in the league, could look to offload the 22-year-old next month.
Premier League leaders Liverpool, defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Italian outfit Inter Milan are believed to showing a keen interest and may look to lodge an offer in the new year.
But, as the rumours do the rounds, Asensio’s agent insists his client is eager to prove himself for European champions Madrid. He told FCInternews.it: “It’s an honour that a club like Inter Milan is interested in Marco.
I don’t know if that report is accurate, but for the moment the player has no intention of leaving Real Madrid.” Asensio’s current contract runs until the summer of 2023 and it would take an offer around 80million euros to land the attacking midfielder, who has scored one La Liga goal this season.
The Spaniard will be hoping to make a successful return to the starting line-up when Madrid come back after the festive break. Los Blancos make the trip to Villarreal on January 3 for La Liga action before playing host to Real Sociedad three days later.
