Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has admitted that he will rotate Joe Hart and Willy Caballero this season as he looks to keep the squad fresh.

The Citizens are hoping to challenge in four competitions and Pellegrini is eager to rotate a number of players.

Hart’s form has been called into question in recent months and last season he was dropped and replaced by Costel Pantilimon.

He eventually found his form towards the end of the campaign, but Caballero is well known in Spain for being a top keeper.

Pellegrini insists individual errors won’t force Hart out of the team, but he admits that he will miss certain games as he tries to keep his squad fully fit.

“Of course Willy Caballero can be in any team, he’s a very good goalkeeper. In this moment I’m playing Joe Hart but he will have his opportunity soon,” he said.

“Willy has a good career behind him. It’s important to have competition in every position in the team, not just with Joe Hart and Willy Caballero.

“Replacing Joe Hart with Willy Caballero doesn’t make a difference – just as (replacing) Zabaleta with Sagna or Mangala with Demichelis or Dzeko with Aguero, it’s exactly the same.

“We need a squad if we want to win something.”

Pellegrini will be hoping Hart and Caballero can perform in all competitions this season, with the current Premier League champions 3.80 to win the title once again.
