Despite making a slow start to life in the Premier League with Manchester City, striker Stevan Jovetic says he has no regrets about leaving Italy for England.

The 24-year-old was one of the hottest properties in Serie A with Fiorentina and City had to fend off interest from Real Madrid to lure the Montenegro international to the Etihad Stadium.

With a £22m price-tag around his neck, the pressure was on Jovetic to impress from the off but a lack of form – not helped by niggling injuries – has meant it has not been the start the striker would have dreamed of when he penned his City contract.

However, he is starting to work his way into manager Manuel Pellegrini’s plans and he is happy with the move from Florence.

Jovetic told beIN Sport: “I never regretted the choice.

“Sure these four to five months have been difficult at the beginning because I was not playing, I got injured often, but now it is all behind me.

“I never doubted myself even in the most difficult moments. I knew that I could play in this team and now I have to prove that.”

In the absence of the injured Sergio Aguero, Jovetic will be hoping he can add to his goals tally on Saturday when City travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich City.

The Citizens are 1.34 to win, 5.05 to draw and 7.95 to lose to the Canaries who currently sit just two points away from the relegation zone.
