Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his team have a massive few months ahead of them, having silenced their critics with a 2-0 victory at Manchester City.

The Gunners have been taken to task over their failure to perform when visiting the other top sides in the Premier League, but they were deserved winners at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, with Santi Cazorla scoring one goal and setting up the other.

And afterwards Wenger was full of praise for his players, who reignited their bid for a top-four finish with their determined performance against the reigning champions.

He told Sky Sports: “I felt that we were well-disciplined, well-organised, had a good solidarity and overall we kept a good control of the game. We looked in control away from home and we finally got a big win in a big game away from home.

“The five months in front are very important in the lifespan of our team. They will determine our season.”

Arsenal are now within one point of fourth-placed Manchester United in the league standings after a fourth win in five games, with the likes of Hector Bellerin and Francis Coquelin developing as potential first-team regulars.

The Gunners are also still in the Champions League, having been drawn against French side Monaco in the last-16, while Arsenal, the current holders, visit Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup next weekend.

Arsenal can be backed at 21.00 to win the Champions League and are 7.50 to retain the FA Cup.
