As he inches closer to the end of his agreement with inter Milan, Romelu Lukaku wants to remain at the club beyond the summer.

Having helped the Nerazurri win their first Scudetto in a decade, Lukaku, who returned to the club on a dry loan and is willing to reduce his salary to secure another loan deal.

Indication has shown that the Belgian is unwilling to return to Stamford Bridge after failing to hit top form following a 113 million euro move to Stamford Bridge in August 2021.

It’s now left to see if the 29-year-old Belgian striker can achieve this, as his current deal remains three months to expire.

Meanwhile, the West London club have its striker crisis as they had struggled in front of goal this season, piling pressure on Graham Potter.

They recently returned to the good firm after qualifying for the last 8 of the champions league following a 2-1 aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund.

Last summer, the Nerazzurri paid Chelsea €8m for the dry loan deal, allowing him to rediscover his form after a challenging year in West London.

However, he has struggled with injury this season. This has reduced his contribution to Inter to three goals across 15 Serie A appearances. This has made inter to line up a likely replacement that will partner with Lautaro Martinez next season.

According to Tuttorsport, Lukaku does not want to return to Chelsea and has told Inter that he will lower his €12m salary to stay at the club.

This development is an important step forward for Nerazzurri. They can try him again and consider negotiating a new loan deal with the Blues.

Lukaku is contracted to the club until June 2026. This is a stumbling block for Inter as they would need help to complete a definitive transfer for the Belgian.
