New Liverpool signing Roberto Firmino hopes to secure silverware after moving to Anfield.

The Brazil international has agreed a move to the Premier League side from German outfit Hoffenheim, with the forward set to officially join Liverpool in a reported £29million deal pending a successful medical after the Copa America.

The 23-year-old is focused on his international commitments with the Selecao at present, but he says the chance to win titles convinced him to swap the Bundesliga for Merseyside.

“It is time to leave Hoffenheim for a bigger club to fight for titles, but for now I am concentrated on the Copa,” he told Kicker.

Liverpool failed to mount a Premier League title challenge last season and also missed out on a top-four spot, but boss Brendan Rodgers has already made a number of moves in the transfer market.

Midfielder James Milner has joined as a free agent after his deal with Manchester City came to an end, while goalkeeper Adam Bogdan has also signed on a free after leaving Bolton, with the Hungary international expected to play back-up to first-choice Simon Mignolet.

Rodgers has drafted in teenage defender Joe Gomez but it is arguably the captures of Firmino and fellow forward Danny Ings that show the club’s intent.

Liverpool struggled for goals last term due to the exit of Luis Suarez last summer and Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems, but former Burnley man Ings and Firmino could help them return to the Champions League next season.

Liverpool are 34.00 to win the Premier League outright next season and 2.40 to beat Stoke in the opening round of fixtures, while Firmino’s Brazil are 5.50 to win the Copa America.
