Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has dismissed rumours linking him with a move to Italy and Germany and is poised to pen a new deal with the Reds.
The 30-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract at Anfield and there had been suggestions that both Napoli and Wolfsburg were planning to make a move for the defender this summer.
However, Skrtel has dismissed the rumours, and wants to stay at Anfield.
“I am not leaving anywhere,” the centre-back said. “Not to Wolfsburg, nor to Naples.”
Meanwhile, Skrtel’s agent Karol Csonto also confirmed there had been no contact from the German side and says they are hoping to finalise a new deal for his client sooner rather than later.
“The only offer which is lying on Martin Skrtel’s table right now is the extension of his contract from Liverpool,” he said.
“We have been working on the details, and we will be finalising it soon. It is not true that he has some offer from the German club. I don’t know anything even about their interest.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool youngster Jordon Ibe is also set to pen a new deal as Brendan Rodgers looks to tie down some of his key assets over the coming weeks.
Liverpool are next in action when they travel to West Brom this weekend and are priced at 2.01 to bounce back from the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Aston Villa with a win.
The Baggies are 3.67 to triumph while the draw is 3.33.
