Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has heaped praise on team-mate Emre Can believing the German can become a “king” at Anfield.

Can joined the Merseyside club from Bayer Leverkusen last summer and was originally signed as a midfield player, but has since forced his way into the side as part of the defence.

The German under-21 international has formed part of the solid base that has helped the Reds embark on a run of just three defeats in their last 28 matches in all competitions.

One man who has been particularly impressed by the youngster is Toure, who believes the German has proved how good he is in a number of positions.

He said: “Emre is a top player. He has been playing outstandingly at the back and in midfield he is a very strong player. We like him here.”

The veteran Ivorian certainly didn’t hold back in his admiration for his team-mate, believing he can go on to be a “king” at Anfield thanks to his hard work and his match winning abilities.

He continued: “There is no doubt this boy is going to be a king here definitely because he is a top player and can make a difference in games. He can score goals and his work-rate is amazing – there is no better player.”

Liverpool are currently fifth in the Premier League table and are only two points behind Manchester United who occupy the final Champions League qualification position.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to Wales to take on Swansea where they are 1.97 to take the spoils. The Swans are available at 3.94 and the draw is on offer at 3.24.
