Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted new players may arrive at Anfield during the January transfer window.

The Reds have made an impressive start to the season, losing just one of their ten Premier League matches to date, and they are currently on an 11-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The Merseyside club have not been crowned champions of England since 1990 and their chances of securing overall glory this season could hinge on their productivity during the transfer window.

Klopp has already been dealt a blow this week following the news forward Danny Ings has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, while attacking winger Sadio Mane could miss up to six weeks of the campaign when he represents Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The German coach admits these absentees could leave his side short of attacking options, and he has not ruled out delving into the transfer market to find replacements in January.

“We watch the market all the time and we need to be prepared for different situations and one of them is injuries,” Klopp said.

“The Africa Cup of Nations we already knew about so we don’t need to be influenced or surprised about that but it could be a moment when we approach the market.”

Klopp is anticipating a busy second half of the season for his side, as Liverpool face an EFL Cup quarter-final with Leeds later this month, while they will also enter the FA Cup at the third-round stage in January.

“It is a long way to go until January and that month is busy,” Klopp continued.

“If we can go to the semi-final of League Cup [Liverpool host Leeds United in the quarter-finals] it could be the busiest month of the year. We need to be prepared for this for sure.”
