Marco Silva believes Djibril Sidibe will be a great success at Everton after signing the 27-year-old right-back from AS Monaco on a season-loan long agreement.

Silva hopes that the France international can compete with Seamus Coleman for a place in his starting line-up. The Everton boss had been keen to add a right-back to his squad after recently allowing Jonjoe Kenny to join Schalke on loan.

Silva said: “Djibril has fantastic experience, winning titles and playing many matches in a competitive league. He is a World Cup winner and he has the hunger to achieve much more in his career.

“It is important to have different options in each position and with Djibril and Seamus we now have two high-quality right-backs. Djibril has also shown to me he has a real desire to play for Everton and be part of the big things we are trying to create.”

Sidibe has made 114 appearances in three seasons at Monaco having previously played for Lille and his hometown club Troyes. Everton have been very active in the transfer market this summer with Sidibe being their sixth signing since the end of last season.

Andre Gomes, Jonas Lossl, Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin and Moise Kean have all arrived at Goodison Park in the last few weeks. In addition to Kenny, a host of players have left the club this summer including Phil Jagielka, Ashley Williams, Ademola Lookman, Irdissa Gueye and James McCarthy.

Everton, 2.40 to beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, are 5.00 to clinch a top-six finish in the Premier League this season.
