Gareth Bale looks increasingly likely to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after he was omitted from Real Madrid’s squad for the second week running.

Wales international Bale has endured a difficult couple of seasons with Los Blancos and there are a number of reports suggesting he will be heading back to the Premier League in the upcoming transfer window.

Zinedine Zidane’s return as manager has not helped the forward’s situation either, with the duo enduring a fractured relationship during the French tactician’s first stint in charge at the Bernabeu.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur ace was left out of Real’s squad for the 3-2 win over Villarreal last week and he has again been overlooked for the clash at Real Sociedad on Sunday evening.

A summer departure looks inevitable at the moment and there are claims both Spurs and Manchester United are looking to wrap up a cut-price deal for the Welshman.

Speaking about Bale’s situation, his agent Jonathan Barnett said he was hopeful his client would remain in Spain although he admits that decision comes down to the manager.

“It’s a shame Bale is not playing,” he was quoted as saying by the Daily Star. “Should he be playing more after being left out of the last two squad lists? I can only hope that he keeps playing for Real Madrid. “But that’s up to Mr. Zidane.

Zidane makes the decision. Is this [Bale being dropped] a message ahead of the next transfer market? You’d have to ask the coach.” Real are set for a huge overhaul of their squad this summer after enduring a disappointing campaign that has seen them fail to win a single trophy.
