Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is delighted to have extended his stay at Stamford Bridge after signing a new four-year deal.

The Portuguese manager is now under contract until 2019 and Mourinho insists he never had any thoughts of walking away from the Premier League champions.

“I said when I returned here that I have a special feeling for this club and nothing changed,” Mourinho is quoted as saying by the BBC.

“I think this is a normal thing for me to sign a new contract. It is important we have this continuity and I hope we can enjoy more success in the future – for the fans, the players and the club.

“It is the club closest to my heart and I am very happy to know I will be staying here for a long time.”

Mourinho guided Chelsea to the Premier League title with three matches to spare last season and also managed to secure the League Cup crown.

The Blues have now won the top domestic prize three times under Mourinho, as he picked up two titles during his first spell with the club between 2004 and 2007.

The former Inter Milan and Real Madrid boss has admitted he expects a greater challenge in the league this term after significant spending from their rivals, with the Blues currently priced at 2.63 to win the Premier League outright.

Manchester United are 6.00 to win the Premier League, Manchester City are 3.75 and Arsenal are available at 4.50.
