Jordan Rhodes is delighted Blackburn have managed to secure a first Championship win of the season after his brace secured a 3-0 victory against Charlton on Saturday.

Rovers substitute Tom Lawrence grabbed the third after Rhodes’s double to complete a deserved and one-sided win at Ewood Park.

Rhodes told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It was nice to get the three points. It’s been long awaited.

“We’ve actually done okay in recent weeks so it’s a bit of a weight off the shoulders to get that first win.”

The striker was also happy to grab his first goals of the season on home soil, having previously failed to find the net in two Championship games at Ewood Park.

He added: “It was nice week personally. Their keeper made a couple of good saves before I got the first goal just before half-time but it was nice to get a couple of goals, especially at home, in front of our own fans, because my two goals before that came away from home.

“It’s nice to get the goals but I’m also doing my best to try and contribute chances to other people as well, and try and build on that side of my play.

“But, yes, I am enjoying the chances I’m getting. It’s a fantastic club, with fantastic fans, staff and players. We’re all gearing in the same direction and we’re all trying our best to get wins.”

Blackburn are 21.00 to be promoted this season, while Lancashire rivals Burnley and Bolton are priced at 4.00 and 51.00 respectively.
