Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson insists his side will be fully prepared for whatever Manchester United throw at them when the two sides clash at Anfield on Monday night.

The Merseyside club will head into the contest three points clear of their rivals in the Premier League standings after winning four straight matches in the top-flight.

The Reds have lost their last four league meetings with United, although they did prevail when the two sides went head-to-head in the Europa League last season, and skipper Henderson insists is side will be fully prepared for the threat of Jose Mourinho’s team.

“We will be prepared for whatever is thrown at us,” the 26-year-old said. “We’ll play as we have been. If we keep doing that it doesn’t matter what other teams will do.

They’ll not live with us.” Mourinho has got the better of Liverpool in the past, with his Chelsea team securing a 2-0 victory at Anfield in April 2014, a result that curtailed the Reds hopes of claiming a first top-flight crown since 1990.

Henderson admits that result still hurts, but he is determined that his side will not be on the receiving end of a similar score-line on Monday.

He continued: “They made it very difficult – throw-ins, goal kicks, they were taking forever and that got everyone worked up in the stadium and it worked to their advantage in the end because they got the result they came for and the one that had a big impact on us winning the league.

I will never really forget that.” Liverpool could move to the top of the table if they win by three goals or more on Monday night, and they are available at 2.15 to secure all three points from the match, while the Red Devils are priced at 3.50 and the draw is on offer at 3.40.
