As the edges towards the end, Lille might have seen a likely replacement for their striker, Jonathan David.
The Canadian striker has been in fine form this season in Ligue 1. His record shows that he is on par with Kylian Mbappe at the top of the goalscoring charts.

His performance has made him linked with top European clubs. Thus, the striker is likely to be on the move this summer.
Top Spanish journalist Fabrizio Romano, in his exclusive Substack column with Caught Offside, said he would be keen to move to La Liga.

David has 22 goals and 4 assists in 33 appearances this season for Lille, 20 of which came in the domestic league.
He keeps getting the goals despite Lille being in 5th and have scored 17 goals fewer than Paris Saint-Germain.
Since he is going stride for stride with Mbappe, it won’t be a surprise if he leaves Ligue 1 this summer.
He has so far scored two third of Lille’s goals in Ligue 1.

According to Romano, Bundesliga side RB Leipzig is hot in pursuit.

He added that more clubs would be in the race in the following weeks and months.

“I’m told he’d love La Liga or Premier League as destinations. I think he’s perfect for Spanish football,” he added.
What Lille will be looking forward to is the club that will meet his transfer value. David will cost a huge sum; this might limit the chances of him going to La Liga.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid are the only Spanish clubs that could pay such a huge fee. The latter two might not go for a player that isn’t their main star this summer.
