Chelsea captain John Terry believes Radamel Falcao is well equipped to become a success at Stamford Bridge this season.

The Colombia international endured a horrid time during a year-long loan at Man United last season, scoring just four Premier League goals in 26 appearances for the Red Devils.

Louis van Gaal elected not to act on his option to sign Falcao but now Jose Mourinho has taken him to London for a year.

Terry says he saw enough from the 29-year-old former Porto and Atletico Madrid frontman when Man United visited in April to convince him Falcao will return to form.

“I honestly think Falcao is going to be a top, top player,” Terry said. “When we played against him at the Bridge in April, after about ten minutes, I said to Gary Cahill, ‘We’ve got to be on it today – he’s right up for it’.”

According to Terry, Falcao and Tottenham’s Harry Kane were the standout performers he faced last season in the Premier League.

“He was hungry, he was sharp and he has been showing that in training since he has joined us. For me, him and Harry Kane were the best players I came up against last season,” added the 34-year-old.

With Diego Costa having come off early in Chelsea’s midweek friendly against Barcelona in the USA, Falcao could lead the line for the Blues in Sunday’s Community Shield against Arsenal at Wembley.

Falcao made just 12 Premier League starts for Man United last season and he will battle with Costa and Loic Remy for a starting berth at the champions.

Chelsea are 2.50 to retain the Premier League this season while Falcao is 29.00 to be leading goalscorer.
