Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is edging closer to sealing a move to Arsenal and will snub offers from Juventus and Napoli, according to his brother Nicolas Higuain.

Higuain’s future has been the subject of wide speculation since the season ended with Arsenal always looking to be the front runners to secure his services for the new term.

The brother of the Argentina international is certain that he will be heading to England to continue his footballing development.

The Gunners have been handed an added boost in their bid to lure the former River Plate man to the Emirates after Juventus confirmed they had agreed a deal with Manchester City for compatriot Carlos Tevez.

If Tevez can complete his move and pass a medical then it would seem likely that the Old Lady would be out of the market for a striker, leaving the door wide open for Arsene Wenger to complete a deal.

“Juventus are a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for them,”

Nicolas Higuain told the news provider. “Napoli are a strong side and that place represents a lot for Argentines.

“But saying that, I can’t deny that Gonzalo is now close to Arsenal.”

Higuain scored 18 goals in 41 appearances in all competitions last season for Los Merengues and boasts a fine overall record of 107 goals in 187 games for the capital club, while his tally for Argentina is equally impressive with 20 goals in 32 games for the national side.
