Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin is close to agreeing a new contract with the club, according to his agent Albert Botines.

The Spain international has developed into a pivotal member of Arsene Wenger’s first-team since moving to North London from Barcelona in the summer of 2011.

The 21-year-old has been a regular in the Gunners’ starting line-up over the past two seasons, making 67 appearances in the Premier League, and his impressive form has seen him linked with a return to the Camp Nou.

Botines has however dismissed any suggestion that his client could leave the Emirates Stadium, declaring instead that the youngster, who still has over two years to run on his current contract, is close to agreeing an extended deal with the North London club.

“We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign,” Botines told The Guardian. “Hector is very happy at Arsenal.

This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.”

Bellerin, who has been an ever-present for the Gunners in the Premier League this season, will be hoping to maintain that record when his side travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United after the international break.

Wenger’s men will head into that match on a ten-game unbeaten run in the top-flight, and they are priced at 6.50 to end the season as Premier League champions.
